The One Gift For A Child We Will Never Meet

Jay Perry

Every year we do our best to try and provide kids with not only a toy under the tree at Christmas, but life necessities as well. As a team, I believe we have done such an incredible job accomplishing this and for the last four years, I have been selfishly purchasing a few gifts for one special child. A special child I will most likely never meet, but one that I hope gets to fill their life with valuable experiences.

I grew up in Canada doing what most Canadian kids do… play hockey. No, I never made the NHL but I can’t put into words what this sport has done for my life. From team-building skills, social skills, healthy competition, dedication, winning, losing, the list can go on and on and it pains me to know that some kids can’t take part because, let’s face it, it’s pretty expensive to play hockey. So, Friends With Hearts Hamilton has been sending one child, (a child that Good Shepherd chooses) to play hockey. We provide all of the necessary equipment and this is one of the things that we are able to do that insanely warms my heart.

Thank you so much to everyone involved who has made this possible.
